Cameron Hardiman joined Victoria Police at age eighteen and served 36 years in policing. Most of his time with Victoria Police as an air observer with the Police Air Wing on Eurocopter SA365C1 and AS365N3 Dauphin helicopters. Police Air Obsevers were responsible for the tactical control of the helicopter while conducting Police, Air Ambulance, and Search & Rescue operations.

After 20 years service with Victora Police, Cameron joined the Australian Federal Police, initially serving on overseas peacekeeping and humanitarian missions that included the Solomon Islands, Timor Leste and New Zealand. He then transferred into an investigations role, focusing initally on general, organised crime, people smuggling operations, then counter terrorism.

In 2015 Cameron was diagnised with Post Traumatic Stresss Disroder and Major Depressive Disorder; a diagnosis that ended his police career. During the years of treatment that followed, Cameron wrote the book, 'Ten Feet Tall and Not Quite Bulletproof'.
